Kejriwal says Padmavati should have compromised, blasts Rajputs against movie

NEW DELHI : Delhi Chief Minister and leading film critic Arvind Kejriwal has finally broken his silence over the ongoing controversy around Padmavati – the upcoming movie about a Rajput queen, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Kejriwal has come out in full support of Bhansali and criticized all the protesting Rajputs.

“Delaying a movie release can’t be tolerated in any situation,” Kejriwal told in an exclusive interview to JKR founder-editor Mr. Javed.

AAP supremo said that he was mentally prepared and ready to review the movie later next month, but now his work schedule is all screwed up because of Rajput leaders who protested against the movie, which allegedly led to movie release date being postponed.

“Modi doesn’t allow me to work and Rajputs don’t allow me to watch movies,” Kejriwal shared his frustration.

Responding to criticisms that Mahipal Singh Makrana, the person who threatened to cut the nose of Deepika Padukone – who plays the role of Queen Padmavati in the movie – was close to him and his party, Kejriwal said that past associations can’t be used to defame him.

“We needed his support when that farmer committed suicide, but we don’t need his support now,” Kejriwal clarified, “But if he thinks he can cut nose of Deepika, he will have to first defeat me in a sword battle.”

Not just Makrana, Kejriwal blasted all Rajput leaders and activists protesting against the movie, and warned that once AAP makes government in Rajasthan in 2018 and then at center in 2019, all these leaders will be jailed.

When JKR founder-editor Mr. Javed asked Arvind Kejriwal his views on ‘jauhar’, where Hindu women committed suicide by burning themselves alive in order to escape confronting Muslim invaders, Delhi Chief Minister said that his solution to women in such problem remains the same – compromise kar lo.

“They should have given Shri Alauddin Khalji a chance,” Kejriwal said.

  • Narendra Modi refused to promote Irrfan Khan’s movie because of his religion?

Narendra Modi refused to promote Irrfan Khan’s movie because of his religion?

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan these days is busy promoting his upcoming film Madaari. As part of the promotions, he had met some political leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav earlier. Later on Twitter, he asked Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, and Narendra Modi to meet him and help him in promoting his movie.

But while Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi agreed to meet him and promote his movie, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was non-committal. Both Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi asked Irrfan Khan to meet them in person, while the office of the Prime Minister asked the actor to send a letter.

The Prime Minister’s Office claimed that Narendra Modi was busy with the upcoming monsoon session so an immediate meeting was not possible. This was in stark contrast with request for a meeting being accepted immediately by the Delhi Chief Minister.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) immediately pointed out this difference and claimed that this was a case of religious discrimination by the Prime Minister.

“Such behavior by the Prime Minister is shameful and raises questions on his commitment to secularism,” AAP leader Ashutosh said. “When a very busy and hard working man like Arvind Kejriwal can take time out to meet a Muslim actor, why is Modi not doing the same?”

    Lalu Yadav and Irrfan Khan
Lalu Yadav, who is known for his secularism and for his friendship with Arvind Kejriwal, was among the first one who had agreed to promote Irrfan Khan’s movie.

When asked if it was the job of a Chief Minister to promote a movie, Ashutosh said that the job of a Chief Minister was to take care of everyone, which included taking care of actors and movie goers.

“Questioning the judgment and wisdom of Arvind Kejriwal is like questioning the beauty of Taj Mahal,” Ashutosh said. “Arvind Kejriwal is an expert on arts, and he understands movies, unlike Modi who can’t understand any art form.”

Many experts too agree that the response by the Prime Minister’s Office was not helpful in maintaining the secular fabric of India.

“When there are communal tensions in the country due to killings of innocent Muslims in Kashmir, Narendra Modi shouldn’t have rejected the request of a Muslim. It will negatively impact communal harmony in the country,” neutral analyst Abhay Kumar Dubey said.

BJP refused to react when Junta Ka Reporter asked its leaders if Narendra Modi’s refusal to meet Irrfan Khan was due to the Bollywood actor’s religion. Their silence has only given strength to such rumors and it seems that the ruling party has not dropped its communal agenda from governance.

  • AAP’s internal committee gives clean chit to Shirish Kunder in plagiarism case

AAP’s internal committee gives clean chit to Shirish Kunder in plagiarism case

NEW DELHI: Respected filmmaker and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Shirish Kunder has been under attack from BJP supporters, who accuse him of copying a Nepalese short film Bob to make his own original short film Kriti.

With organized and concerted attempts like mass reporting the YouTube link of Kriti, the BJP supporters were successful in getting the YouTube link of Kriti removed earlier today. To malign Kunder further, BJP supporters even made a fake Japanese movie poster to claim that Kriti’s poster was also copied:

With some sections of media believing such charges, AAP decided to form an inquiry committee to look into the issue. The youth wing of AAP was asked by party supremo Arvind Kejriwal – who had watched and liked Kriti – to submit the report within a couple of hours.

Junta Ka Reporter has learned that the committee has submitted its report and given a clean chit to Shirish Kunder. It has found that the two movies are not at all similar, and Kunder deserves all praise for the excellent short film that he has made.

“Some scenes are very very similar and look carbon copy of each other but even AAP’s ‘aam aadmi’ slogan is exactly what Congress used to say; does it mean AAP copied Congress? Of course No!” the report explained why Kriti is not copied.

“The plot and idea of Kriti and Bob are same, but this can’t be called plagiarism. Same illogical arguments were used to claim that Swaraj, book written by Kejriwal sir was plagiarized. But we all know that it was an original and revolutionary book,” the reporter further explained why it thinks Kriti is not a copy of Bob.

Shirish Kunder has welcomed the clean chit and hoped that Google (company that owns YouTube) will now unblock his short film. AAP member and singer-musician Vishal Dadlani too has asked Google to unblock the movie, else the party will be forced to launch a worldwide agitation against the company.

  • Salman Khan lobbying to get a positive tweet on Sultan by Arvind Kejriwal?

Salman Khan lobbying to get a positive tweet on Sultan by Arvind Kejriwal?

MUMBAI: It appears that Salman Khan is not experiencing any achchhe din. His last movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo flopped and his recent remarks about ‘feeling like a raped woman’ drew criticism from everyone. He has got notices from women commissions and a case also has been filed against him.

Before these controversies hit him, his image had already taken a beating due to the hit-and-run case coming back to haunt him. Furthermore, his assumed proximity to BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been losing public support after becoming PM, has also caused him to lose some fan following and goodwill among the masses.

In such a scenario, Salman Khan desperately needs an image makeover and public support as barely a week remains before his movie Sultan hits the theaters.

Sources say that Salman has now turned his hope towards Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) founder and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, whose public support has been rising exponentially in recent past.

People appreciated publicly by Kejriwal have performed well in public life and their tasks have been successful. Similarly, movies that Kejriwal have tweeted about have become hits on box-office, latest being Udta Punjab, whose success has been traced to Kejriwal’s tweets by trade analysts.

Realizing that Arvind Kejriwal is the key to public support and success, sources reveal to Junta Ka Reporter that Salman Khan is desperately sending feelers to Arvind Kejriwal to get the Delhi Chief Minister to tweet appreciatively on Sultan.

Arvind Kejriwal is known not to be vindictive and thus Salman is hoping that Kejriwal will pardon his proximity to Modi and help him in troubled times. According to sources, Salman has promised to mend his ways and work for people’s goodwill that will please Arvind Kejriwal.

Sources say that Salman has called up Vishal Dadlani – an honest musician who is a vocal supporter of AAP and is close to Arvind Kejriwal – at least a dozen times in the last three days, pleading with him to request Arvind Kejriwal to tweet about Sultan. Dadlani has not promised anything but said that he will try his best.

So will Arvind Kejriwal forgive Salman and help him overcome these troubled times? We will know on Eid.

  • Udta Punjab all set to cross 900 crore business due to Kejriwal’s tweet

Udta Punjab all set to cross 900 crore business due to Kejriwal’s tweet

MUMBAI: Bollywood movie Udta Punjab doesn’t have any special effects like Bahubali. It doesn’t even have a superstar like Aamir Khan, but it could become the highest grossing Hindi movie ever.

Trade analysts say that the movie could break records of movies like Bahubali and P.K. and could do a business of 900 crore rupees by the next weekend i.e. by the end of 26th June 2016. Not only that, it could well become the only Bollywood movie to enter the 1000 crore club.

While the movie’s story – which deals with corruption of Akali Dal and the drug problem not well highlighted by the Congress party – has to be praised for its success, analysts say that one of the reasons why the movie is doing so well is because Arvind Kejriwal endorsed it.

The Delhi Chief Minister is very busy working for good governance in the National Capital Region of Delhi, but he took time out to watch the movie and tweeted this:

Arvind Kejriwal watches very few movies and whenever he watches he tweets about them. People know that such a busy and honest man will only choose to watch and talk about those movies that are good, and hence Kejriwal’s tweets help as a box office stimulant.

After super success of Udta Punjab, Bollywood producers will surely be making a beeline in front of Kejriwal’s office to get a word of appreciation!
